Crossfit is sometimes even equated with military training and is therefore not for people who like it easy. So what's so awesome and compelling about this torture?
The toughest workout
In fact, CrossFit training is a little inspired by military drill. The concept is plain and simple: you push yourself and push your body to the limit with every single exercise. The result is all the more astonishing: You feel great because you have conquered your weaker self! In addition, you burn an above-average number of calories and build muscle. Your coordination, stamina and willpower will be trained and strengthened as if by the way.
In CrossFit, certain exercises are repeated at intervals. Crunches (i.e. folding knives), squad (i.e. squats) and of course push-ups and jumping rope are popular. Basically, you hardly need any tools, comfortable sportswear and a skipping rope are sufficient. Of course you need a trainer who can carry his protégés along and push them to their limits.
A touch of military drill
Some exercises are actually taken from the Marines and their training program. They have friendly names such as Annie. After a while, the athletes know these names and what is behind them. The motivation boost that the first training session brings with it only rarely fails to have an effect. Trainers report that an above-average number of people who have never done any sport before are interested in CrossFit. And even those who don’t like sports get ambitious. The fact that the body with all its muscles is steeled and challenged is (almost) only a minor matter. Crossfit brings fun and exhilaration!
