Stretching Exercises For knees – Gentle And Effective
Knees are an extremely complex structure that can perform amazing feats. However, knees are also susceptible to excessive loads. A knee injury can be very painful, last a long time and also have a severe impact on everyday life. That's more than enough reason to take extra care of your knees. Even with normal walking, the knees carry the weight of the body with every step. When running or jumping, this load is multiplied. During a training session, several tons of total stress can quickly be placed on each knee. Targeted stretching exercises that prepare the knee for the load help to reduce the risk of injury.
Proper stretching for healthy knees
Exercise 1:
For the first knee stretch, sit upright on the floor with your legs straight. Now try to lift your heels off the floor a few inches and keep your legs straight. Repeat this a few times. You can also use a towel that you wrap around your feet and hold with your hands.
Exercise 2:
For the second exercise, get into the squat position and stretch one leg out to the side. Try to keep a right angle in the other knee and rock up and down in a small motion.
Exercise 3:
For the third exercise, lie on your side on the floor with your lower leg stretched out. Grab the ankle of the upper leg and pull your lower leg towards your buttocks. You repeat all three exercises on both sides.
